The Edmonton Triathlon Club provides support and development to triathletes of all levels.


AGM - March 21, 2014

Hello Everyone. Please plan to attend our 2014 ETC AGM.

When: Friday March 21st at 5:30pm.

Where: Boston Pizza Whyte Ave - Downstairs meeting room. (MAP) Doors at 5:30pm, with an assortment of complimentary appetizers served at 6:00pm, so please do come early to get a table and mingle. Cash bar and menu service will also be available. Feel free to bring your spouse/children, but an RSVP is requested in order to gauge how many people to order appetizers for.

Speaker: This year, we are pleased to feature special guest speaker. Physiotherapist Craig Brososky, owner of West End Physiotherapy Clinic, will be giving a brief talk at 6:30pm about "Common triathlon injuries: How to prevent them".

More details: The ETC Annual General Meeting is also your opportunity to provide input regarding club activities, visit your old ETC training pals, and meet our many new club members. The ETC currently has 115 Members and continues to grow. Other business on the agenda will include a brief overview of the club's financial statements, and election of Board Members for a two-year term. Please note that the ETC Board is in need of a few enthusiastic new Board Members able to meet the first Monday evening of every month from 5-6:30pm. If you are interested in contributing your passion, ideas, and enthusiasm to serve on the ETC Board, please consider running. Someone with bookkeeping/accounting skills would be especially desirable.

Memberships and Merchandise: Memberships and ETC merchandise will be available for purchase.

Drumheller: This is your first opportunity to sign-up for the ever-popular, epic, annual May long-weekend Drumheller Cycling Trip. This cycling adventure is the perfect kick-off to your outdoor cycling training for the summer race season (300kms over three days including some BIG hills). Fully vehicle supported and a wonderful trip!

Swim Stronger, Race Faster...

Is your swim your Triathlon Achilles’ Heel?? Could you better your race times if only you could improve your swim time? Attend this intensive triathlon-focused Swim Camp presented jointly by the Edmonton Triathlon Club and the Royal Glenora Club's Aquatic Centre.

When: Saturday, February 8th, Noon to 5pm & Sunday, February 9th, 10am to 4pm
(lunch provided Sunday)

Where: Royal Glenora Club pool, a state-of-the-art natatorium that maximizes natural light.

Cost: $125 per person (no GST), including lunch on Sunday.

Coach: Lincoln Flanagan, certified coach and Registered Massage Therapist. Lincoln’s personable style and knowledge of the body and how it functions make him a sought-after coach who works with several swim clubs and training programs in Edmonton.

Camp: Designed for all levels to improve front crawl. Focus on technical fundamentals with on-deck instruction, in-pool practice and group video analysis to benefit from feedback.

Signup: Attendance is limited to 10 ETC participants (and 10 from the Royal Glenora). Registration will be confirmed on payment (no spots held). Pay by online electronic funds transfer through your bank to ETC President Mike Krahn at email address mikekrahn@shaw.ca OR send Mike an email or Facebook message to arrange payment by cheque or cash.

Note: Any vacant spots after Jan. 31 will be made available to both clubs. Check Facebook for updates.

Registrants will be emailed further details about the Swim Camp, Royal Glenora Club facility guidelines, and what to bring.


Winter Spin Season
ETC's 2013/2014 Winter spin season runs from Wed, November 13, 2013 to Sat, April 19, 2014.

TIMES:    
Mon / Wed - doors 6:00pm, spin - 6:30pm - 8pm
Sat - doors 7:30am, spin - 8:00am - 9:30am


WHERE:  Wolf Willow Community League, 505 Wolf Willow Road

WHAT TO BRING:  Your bike and trainer, a yoga mat to go under your bike, water, a small towel for all that sweat, and money for the post spin social hour at Jeffrey's Cafe.

Drumheller Bike Trip
The 2014 ETC May long-weekend T-Rex  cycling trip to the Drumheller area is scheduled for May 16th to 19th.  With 300 kilometres of riding (and some monster hills), a great time will be had by all.  



Saturday Morning Rides
Saturday mornings April through October, check the ETC Facebook page for a Go/No Go message to be posted by 7:30 am.  Riders meet at 8:30am sharp at the Good Earth Coffee Shop in the Save On Foods complex at the Southwest corner of 91 St and Ellerslie Rd.

Wednesday Evening Club Training
Join us Wednesday evenings in the Summer for alternating Brick or Hill training sessions.  

Join your club-mates for Brick training, - an opportunity to improve your bike-to-run transition time, and practice running off the bike, by doing cycle/run repeats.  Meet at 6:15pm  with your bike and  your running gear in Hawrelak Park, at the first parking lot on your left after the park entrance for a 6:30pm group start.

Join your club training pals for bike Hill training sessions.  Meet at 6:30 pm sharp, ready to ride, in the Muttart Conservatory parking lot.  

Be sure to check the ETC Facebook page Wednesday afternoons for updates regarding change of location, and cancellation notices in the event of bad weather.  Non-Members are welcome to come out and "tri" a Brick or Hill training session, but must sign a waiver form and pay the $5 drop-in fee.  
 

Swim Clinics
The ETC held three Members-only Friday evening open water swim practices at Lake Summerside Beach Club in May and June.  Additional practices may be organized for July and/or August.  Watch for an announcement on the ETC Facebook page of any additional group open water swim practice opportunities.



Membership Year
ETC Membership year is from April 1 to March 31st each year.  Sign up and join us for the exciting events planned for the 2013/14 season.  Remember Your ETC membership qualifies you for discounted rates at City of Edmonton Leisure Centres, and select sponsor-retailers.  See the Membership folder for further information on how to sign up!
